Rafsanjani to Khamenei: “Stop these shameful and embarrassing acts”

Important meeting today between Hashemi Rafsanjani and the leader of the Islamic Republic – Rafsanjani’s ultimatum to the Leader [Ali Khamenei] – “Stop these shameful and embarrassing acts!”

Jaras - In a meeting with the leader of the Islamic Republic, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani severely criticized the recent attempts by government agents to arrest the wife of Ali Reza Beheshti, a senior advisor to Mousavi. He gave an ultimatum to Ayatolla Khamenei and stated that the actions are “shameful and embarrassing.”

According to a Jaras reporter, among the issues brought up in the long meeting, Hashemi Rafsanjani warned the leader of the manner in which the country is being run, the turmoil after the elections, and the issues related to political prisoners and the press.

After the unsuccessful attempt by government agents to arrest Ali Reza Beheshti’s (senior advisor to Mousavi) wife, she contacted Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the head of the Assembly of Experts, from her hiding place. She stated, “We have come to a point where the grandchildren of the first chairman of the Judiciary, the late Ayatolla Beheshti, in the wake of the 22nd of Bahman, have to be displaced and live underground because of fears of being arrested by government agents.”

Hashemi who was severely affected and shaken by this conversation visited the leader today and requested for the immediate release of Ali Reza Beheshti. It looks as though Ali Reza Beheshti may be released soon since Ayatollah Mousavi Ardebili also visited with the leader a few days earlier with a similar request.

At this time, Seyed Mohammad Reza Beheshti, Ali Reza Beheshti’s older brother has outside Evin prison for hours waiting for his brother to be released.
