The video clips below display the aftermath of attacks by Basij, anti-riot, and plainclothes forces on students and their dorm rooms at the University of Tehran. The attacks took place on the night of June 14, 2009. Many of the students were kidnapped, and there is still no word on some of them. Additionally, at least seven students were murdered in the attacks.

Unfortunately, the University of Tehran dormitory attacks did not receive a significant amount of mainstream media coverage. Worse, many of the abuses (such as Basij forces barging into dorm rooms and attacking students with chains and knives) were not captured on camera.

The day after the attacks, state-run national television announced ”thugs” responsible for the violence – an impudent move by the regime to rationalize and shift blame of the attacks on innocent students and civilians.

Since video and photo evidence are proof that the “thugs” were in fact regime forces, then not only are the lies of the government revealed, but one can also conclude that the current regime welcomes and supports thugs as part of their system.
