Report: Hormozgan residents suffer from poverty

Iran News Agency reporter - It has been pointed out in several previous articles that a large number of Hormozgan (province in Iran) residents suffer from poverty.

We have reached out to the government and drawn attention to societal issues in Hormozgan, such as addiction. Unfortunately, we have not received any response from the government.

This time our report focuses on people [in Hormozgan] who have nothing to eat and who also have no ability to work.

Currently in Hormozgan, more specifically in Bandar-e-Abbas, elderly who are suffering from extreme poverty go to great lengths for a piece of bread.

In every other country, elderly people are being looked after, ensuring that they can manage an honorable life [during their later years]. However, in Iran, which is a wealthy country with oil and a lot of natural resources, the idea of supporting the elderly is considered nonsense.

Despite having very weak bodies, honorable elderly people in Bandar-e-Abbas have to work any type of job they can find in order to provide food for their family. These days, this is true in all parts of Bandar-e-Abbas.

*How long will the public wealth of Iran be used to fill the pockets of foreign countries and work in the favor of the Iranian government, while the Iranian people suffer from poverty?

Can the government that spends millions of tomans for the anniversary of the Revolution (February 11th) explain any of this?
*Editor’s note: In some governments, it is acceptable for public monies to be used to fund governmental objectives since the objectives of the government are assumed to more or less represent the people. With the IRI, however, this is not the case.
