Report on Clash at Ghoba Mosque

There have been several conflicts recently at Ghoba Mosque, Shiraz

Two nights ago, there was a conflict between Basijis and the followers of Ayatollah Dastgheib, a green movement supporter.

Since the establishment of Iran’s Green Movement, Ayatollah Dastgheib has stopped attending his regular speeches in Ghoba Mosque, but his followers still gather there to practice.

Last night, one of Dastgheib’s students wrote a speech in support of him, which resulted in a conflict between a group of Basijis and Dastgheib followers. The Basiji crowd consisted of around 20 people, so Dastgheib’s followers managed to force them to leave the mosque. The Basijis retaliated by throwing stones at the people in the mosque. The incident resulted in some injuries.

At 10:00pm, the police convinced the Basijis to end their attacks and leave.
