Allameh University Staff and Students Under Great Pressure

Iran News Agency - Students at Allameh [Tabatabai] University are under great pressures by security [forces]. 13 students have been arrested, and over 250 expulsion and suspension sentences have been issued. Freshman students have also been banned [from continuing their education] and 12 professors have been fired. Additionally, two professors Dr. Ali Arab Mazar and Afshin Momeni have been arrested.

Mohammad Reza Gilani, a student studying Spanish was in the process of completing his final terms at Allameh University. With the excuse of post-election events, he was suspended for two terms. Gilani’s file shows the reason for the sentence to be behavioral issues and not political.

Despite the sentence, Mohammad Reza Gilani has protested and said: I have been suspended at a time when only two terms of my studies was left until graduation. But since I didn’t want to deal with their conditions, I braved suspension, and I am proud of this. For those who sacrifice for the movement and for everyone who heads to the streets, remember the martyrs and the prisoners…They [the regime] wants us to withdraw, but we are victorious.”
