Journalist and Human Rights Activist Brutally Arrested by IRGC Forces


Journalist and human rights activist Abolfazl Abedini was brutally arrested by the IRGC intelligence forces in the southern province of Khuzestan.

RAHANA – Over the past few days, Abolfazl Abedini, who is a member of the Pan Iranist Party, had been repeatedly threatened with arrest.

According to RAHANA, Abedini was once arrested on June 30, 2009 and subsequently released on bail on October 26, 2009.

The activist who suffers from a serious heart condition was severely beaten during the arrest.

Since yesterday, the authorities have arrested a large number of activists across the country including: Nasour Naghipour (blogger), Navid Khanjani (rights activist), Dr. Hesam Firoozi (physician & blogger), Mahboobeh Karami (feminist activist), and Behzad Mehrani (journalist & blogger).
