HRANA – The investigations department of the Revolutionary Court has issued bail bonds for children’s rights activists Maryam Zia, Babak Nazari, Mehdi Salimi-Vala, and Khandan.

For Maryam Zia and Khandan, a $30,000 (USD) bail has been issued. For Babak Nazar and Mehdi Salimi-Vala, a bail amount is set to be issued.

According to Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran (HRDAI), Maryam Zia, Khandan, and Mehdi Salimi-Vala were arrested on December 31, 2009. Babak Nazari was arrested on January 27, 2010.

Based on reports, during Maryam Zia’s interrogation process to obtain a confession, judge Ghalabi was brought in. The judge asked Maryam Zia the amount of years she has been an activist for human rights. Maryam Zia replied two years, and as a result, the judge registered her confession as ‘working for Mojahedin for two years.’ Maryam Zia raised this issue in court and the judge replied that there are no judges in prison.
