Uncertainty over jailed activist’s case

Committee of Human Rights Reporters: Atyieh Youssefi, an activist for the One Million Signatures Campaign in Rasht (inorthern Iran), has been in jail since December 27, 2009.

She is being held in the women’s ward of Lakan prison in Rasht. Although the family has asked for her release on bail, no hearing has been scheduled. Atyieh’s situation is still uncertain.

Currently several women’s rights activists are in prison. Two of their names are Mansoureh Shojaee and Somayeh Rashidi; both were detained during the recent wave of arrests.
