Somayeh Rashidi’s Objection to Her Arrest

Committee of Human Rights Reporters - Today, 11th of January 2010, Somayeh Rashidi’s (feminist activist) objection to her arrest was presented to the revolutionary court by her lawyers, Afruz Maghzi and Zohreh Arzani. According to the feminist activist’s lawyers, the revolutionary court has revealed that section 12th of the interrogation department is in control of Somayeh’s case. The court also announced that they have requested this section to publish the reasons for her arrest, and if possible, to change the arrestment sentence into a security deposit. Somayeh Rashidi had presented herself to court on December 20 after receiving court summon from the officers who were inspecting her house. She was arrested at court and sent to prison. She is one of the “1 million signatures” campaign’s activists, who were prevented from continuing her study in master degree of “Female study” in the current year, as a result of her activism.
